Mark Serna, OSB retired as abbot of Portsmouth Abbey, Rhode Island in March 2005. Born in New York City of Colombian immigrant parents, he entered Portsmouth Abbey in 1979, professing vows in 1981, and being ordained to the priesthood in 1986. He now serves as the Abbey's treasurer.
